BAM! Or Books-A-Million, Inc. recently held a book and toy drive for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Fond du Lac County at their location at 835 W Johnson Street (inside the Forest Mall).
Patrons of the store purchased a book or toy, that in turn was donated to BBBS of Fond du Lac County.Anything from picture books to chapter novels to toys were included in the donation.“We are so grateful that BAM put together a book and toy drive for our organization. Their goal this year was to have people donate $1080 worth of merchandise.They far exceeded the goal with a total of $1550 worth of books and toys.We were able to help multiple families this holiday season!”Said Tammy Young, Executive Director of BBBS of Fond du Lac County.“We are amazed by people’s generosity!”
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) assists children with social, emotional and character development through one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring adults.Children in the program come from a wide variety of backgrounds, many coming from single parent households, living at or below poverty level.Big Brothers Big Sisters matches children with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Couples or Big Families in a community or school based program.Children aged 6 through 13 can enroll in the program through a parent or guardian referral.Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license for the community based program, 16 years old for the school based program.For more information about the program or to volunteer, call 920-922-8200.
