Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County, City of Fond du Lac Police Department, East Central Wisconsin Safe Routes to School, and Fond du Lac Cyclery teamed up for another successful Bike Rodeo at Theisen Middle School on Wednesday, June 26! Children in the community aged 5-11 learned essential safety tips to help them bike with confidence around Fond du Lac’s streets and sidewalks. There were stations, obstacle courses, prizes, snacks, beverages, and plenty of smiling faces at this free, family-friendly event.

Parents and guardians were able to register children before the event to make sure every child was equipped with a bicycle, helmet, and bike lock. All children received a free bike license courtesy of the City of Fond du Lac.

At the event, the Fond du Lac Cyclery team volunteered their time to tune up bicycles, fill tires, and fit helmets. Kwik Trip, Walmart, and Annie’s Fountain City Catering fueled the busy riders with fresh bananas, bottled water, and delicious cookies!

On the course, the Fond du Lac Police Department and East Central Wisconsin Safe Routes to School guided cyclists through proper hand signals, mounting their bikes, using brakes, making safe turns, and entering the roadway.

Over 20 young cyclists showed up to ride responsibly at the 2024 Fond du Lac Bike Rodeo! Children who completed the course were entered to win one of two special raffle baskets featuring outdoor toys, fidgets, local coupons, and more fun items.
